Michele Jones, Parliamentary Candidate for Clwyd West, has pledged to do her bit for the British Armed Forces family. Michele made this pledge on The Royal British Legion's campaign website, www.timetodoyourbit.org.uk
The website also features the charity's general election manifesto, which sets out priorities for the next Government to improve conditions for Service Personnel and their families, the bereaved, veterans and dependents.
Kevin Shinkwin, the Legion's Head of Public Affairs, said, "We're really grateful to Michele Jones for pledging to do her bit. The entire Armed forces family needs the support of politicians from all parties, and our manifesto outlines practical ways the next government can help. We hope all the parties will give it serious consideration and that every Liberal Democrat MP and Prospective Parliamentary Candidate will pledge to do their bit".
Michele said, "I am delighted to support the Royal British Legion. They have an important role to play in highlighting the needs of the whole Armed Forces family. I have pledged to do my bit and would encourage everyone to visit the website - www.timetodoyourbit.org.uk - to find out how they can get involved in the campaign".
Michele added "The brave men and women of our armed forces are our most precious military asset. Yet far too many are paid a pittance in return for putting their lives on the line for this country. The Liberal Democrats believe our troops should be given fair play with improved pay and conditions that reflect their amazing commitment to this country, adequate investment in their safety to ensure they have the right equipment to do their jobs as securely as possible, and adequate provisions for those returning injured from active duty. The Welsh Liberal Democrats are committed to investing in our troops and their families, and our manifesto supports this pledge".
